Accompanists’ Guild of South Australia Media Release

ADELAIDE: 9 August 2012            FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Accompanists Guild of SA celebrates the pianists with some stunning
woodwind.

For the first time in its history the Accompanists’ Guild of South Australia
has focussed the entire year’s events on highlighting Piano with Wind.

It culminates in the Accompanists’ Festival in September with a Week of
Winds from September 24 to 30, 2012.

The Guild’s 2012 Musician-in-residence is  Timothy Young who  is one of
Australia’s most brilliant chamber music pianists and  an outstanding
example of the qualities he expects of his students—- that they are
versatile,  multi-faceted, creative, open minded and not bound by the
limiting concept of what it means to be a concert pianist.

For ten years Timothy has been a Resident Artist and Faculty member at the
Australian National Academy of Music and is currently Co-ordinator of Piano.
In a wide-ranging repertory he performs regularly in recital as a soloist
and in partnership with leading Australian and international musicians and
ensembles. He is also a founding member of Ensemble Liaison, which was
recently appointed Ensemble in Residence at Monash University, Melbourne.

Timothy has won numerous prizes including a first-prize winner of piano and
chamber music competitions including the Premio Kawai-Tortona, the Palma

Diana Harris, Guild President and Founder remarks, “The Closing Celebrity
Recital will  be a scintillating performance by two musicians, Timothy Young
and Celia Craig (oboe) at the very pinnacle of their powers. That they will
be joined by the brilliant bassoonist, Mark Gaydon, for the finale, will
definitely create a dazzling conclusion to the Guild’s Year for Pianists
with Winds.”
