It is with great sadness that we record the passing of Mary Le Page OAM at the age of 94
years.
Mary had a distinguished career reaching back to the 1960’s as a music educator, teacher,
accompanist and mentor for students.
She was highly respected, and had significant involvement with many musical organisations,
particularly in South Australia.
As an active member of the Accompanists’ Guild of South Australia for more than 20 years,
Mary served as President, jury member for several Accompanist competitions, as well as
being an enthusiastic and capable committee member. She was made an Honorary Life
Member of the Guild.
She was a regular accompanist for SA Department of Education Music Branch and the
Catholic Schools Music Festival, as well as accompanying, coaching and mentoring countless
instrumentalists and singers preparing for their school and tertiary examinations.
Mary was not only an experienced music educator but also a social worker, psychologist, and
comforting friend for those she was accompanying and mentoring.
She will be greatly missed by her many friends and colleagues.
