The Guild places special emphasis on educational projects which encourage young pianists to perform with other musicians. Young Accompanists’ Showcase provides an opportunity for secondary school pianists to gain experience in the art of accompanying and collaborative performance. The pianist is paired with a professional soloist with whom they rehearse and perform.
2018 Young Accompanists’ Showcase
The Accompanists’ Guild of S.A (AGSA) provides the opportunity for 6 to 8 secondary school pianists to gain experience in the art of accompanying and collaborative performance. In the Young Accompanists’ Showcase (YAS) the piano student is paired with a professional soloist with whom they rehearse and perform. This year there is a focus on 2 piano works as well as working with a clarinetist.
The Young Accompanists’ Showcase project will take place between March and June 2018 and the performance dates are:
Masterclass – Sunday 20 May at 2.00pm at Harrison Music Studio, 25A Orlando Avenue, Hampstead Gardens
First Concert – Sunday 3 June at 2.30 pm at Harrison Studio
Final Concert: 5 August at 1.30 pm during AGSA Conference at Marryatville High School.
The Masterclass will be conducted by Dr Diana Weekes who has performed for the ABC, Recitals Australia, the Adelaide Festival and Barossa Music Festivals. Diana is widely experienced in the art of duo piano playing and accompanying.
The professional soloists are:
Irina Lioubimova – piano, Damien Mansfield – piano, Thomas Saunders – piano, Mitch Berick – clarinet
The focus of the AGSA Conference is 2 Piano works with guest artists Lisa Moore and Sonya Lifschitz. They will be presenting at the conference and then give a recital on Sunday 17 June at Elder Hall.
