As one might expect a lot of sound and activity resulting is some inspirational music making for our: JEMs (Junior Ensemble Musicians) and their preparations for a class with percussionist, Jamie Adam, who generously provided some of the instruments needed for the JEM’s 12.10 Festival Concert in the Flinders Street Baptist Church on Wednesday September 17. Download this Media Release here Accompanists’ Guild of SA Media Release, Adelaide: Sunday 18 August 2013 for immediate release THE 2013 GEOFFREY PARSONS AWARD WINNER ANNOUNCED Earlier this evening (18 August), the Final of Australia’s most lucrative and prestigious award for the collaborative pianist, the Accompanists’ Guild of SA’s 29th Geoffrey Parsons Award, took place in Adelaide at the Elder Conservatorium of Music, The University of Adelaide. In keeping with the Guild’s acknowledgement of the professional aspirations of their competitors, the cash-pool is a significant $7,500, made possible with the generous support of The Royal Commonwealth Society, SA Branch. Geoffrey Parsons was an internationally acclaimed Australian accompanist, particularly for singers. He regularly accompanied, Elizabeth Schwarzkopf, Victoria de los Angeles, Dame Janet Baker, Olaf Bär, and Barbara Bonney. He was the Guild’s International Patron until his untimely death in 1995. Happy New Year for 2009 – we are now into our second quarter century having enjoyed a ripper of a 25th anniversary in 2008. What a fabulous year it was due in no small part to our extended Festival , the inaugural Australian Conference of Accompanists and Associate Artists and the magical contribution of pianist and “accompanist to the stars”, Malcolm Martineau. The support the Guild received from members, the general public, sponsors and personal donors during 2008 was magnificent. An extremely high benchmark for future Guild activities has been set. So we must not let the emphasis on the accompanist and all things to do with accompanying flag. A splendid start – our first Annual Brochure It’s hard to believe that this is the first time in our 26 year history that we have produced a professionally designed brochure of our annual events.
