Accompanists’ Guild of SA Media Release ADELAIDE: Sunday 4 May 2008 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE AUSTRALIA’S 1ST NATIONAL CONFERENCE OF ACCOMPANISTS Friday 30 May – Sunday 1 June 2008 Elder Conservatorium of Music The University of Adelaide ` The world’s first renowned vocal accompanist, Gerald Moore, made famous the question, “Am I too loud?” From Friday 30 May until Sunday 1 June 2008, the Accompanists’ Guild of South Australia during its inaugural Conference of Accompanists and Associate Artists will consider that question and much more. The Conference is part of the Guild’s 25th Anniversary Celebration and coincides with the visit of a pianist often compared to Moore and Geoffrey Parsons, one of the world’s foremost vocal accompanists, Malcolm Martineau. DONATE FOR 2008 – TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATIONS FOR THE FESTIVAL OF ACCOMPANISTS
For the very special one off 25th Anniversary 2008 Festival of Accompanists, the Guild is seeking the support of many generous donors who believe in the significance of the Accompanist and in the presentation of excellence in performance and education for Accompanists, Associate Artists and the Public. The Guild aims to do this in 2008 with the Residency of world renowned Accompanist, Malcolm Martineau, (May 22/June1), the Conference of Accompanists and Associate Artists (May 30/June 1), a significantly enhanced Geoffrey Parsons Award (May 30) worth $5000 to the winner and performances by local and international musicians. The concluding Recital (June 1) by Malcolm Martineau and bass-baritone, Jonathan Lemalu, will present two internationally acclaimed artists of the concert and opera stages in recital.
